Project Vision

Building the Future of American Curling

Despite strong and growing interest in curling following the 2018 US Olympic Gold Medal, the St. Croix Valley and East Metro area remains without a dedicated curling facility. The Stillwater Area Curling Center is changing that.

Our History

Founded in 2025, the Stillwater Area Curling Center is a 501(c)3 Minnesota-registered nonprofit organization with a mission to grow curling in the St. Croix Valley. Governed by an all-volunteer board, SACC was built on a simple belief: this community deserves a home for the sport.

The Opportunity

A valuable property adjacent to the St. Croix Valley Recreation Center created the perfect foundation. By partnering with the Recreation Center's expansion plans, SACC found the most efficient and effective way to serve both the curling community and the broader region — combining resources, sharing facilities, and maximizing impact for everyone who uses the campus.

What We're Building

The Stillwater Area Curling Center replaces an underutilized outdoor seasonal rink with a 100,000+ square foot modern facility featuring:

  • Championship curling sheets

  • Expanded parking with two additional lots and improved entry access

  • Locker rooms, storage, and peripheral activity spaces

  • A shared public restaurant and food service operated under contract by the City of Stillwater, serving curlers, hockey players, figure skaters, dome users, and all Recreation Center visitors

Programming, Operations & Impact

For Athletes, Families, and Future Olympians.

A new curling advisory committee will guide all aspects of facility operations including competitive leagues, public learn-to-curl sessions, youth programming, and accessible curling. The City of Stillwater will collaboratively manage the facility, consistent with its existing approach to the St. Croix Valley Recreation Center.

With a projected membership of 1,000+ and programming designed for all ages and skill levels, the Stillwater Area Curling Center is built to draw visitors from across Minnesota, the region, and beyond. This is not just a local facility — it is a regional destination and a national home for the sport of curling.
